SULKOWITCH URINE (CALCIUM) TEST KIT
Monitor your health through your urine calcium
Low Level Calcium
If the test shows low levels of urine calcium, it may be due to:
- Hypoparathyroidism - low calcium and hypoparathyroidism is rare, and almost always happens after a person undergoes thyroid or parathyroid surgery.
Hypoparathyroidism is the state of decreased secretion or decreased activity of parathyroid hormone (PTH). This lack of PTH leads to decreased blood levels of calcium
(hypocalcemia) and increased levels of blood phosphorus (hyperphosphatemia). There are no symptoms of too little parathyroid hormone other than the symptoms due to having
a blood (consequently urine) calcium that is too low
- Malabsorption disorders - a low blood calcium level likely means that your body has attempted to maintain your blood calcium level for a long time and has finally
failed at doing its job. This is serious because it puts you at very high risk for osteoporosis or other weak bone conditions and it is EXTREMELY important to find the cause.
There are only a few likely reasons why you have a low blood calcium level and generally it is a malabsorption of nutients.
- Use of thiazide diuretics - Diurectics are commonly used in the treatment of high blood pressure. Thiazide diuretics are a family of drugs that remove water from
the body. Low doses of diuretics known as thiazides are sometimes used to reduce the amount of calcium released by the kidneys into the urine
- Vitamin D deficiency - Vitamin D helps our intestine to absorb calcium from the foods we eat. Thus, Vitamin D increases the amount of calcium in our bodies. If our
Vitamin D levels are low, then our intestines have a hard time absorbing calcium. This is why milk is fortified with Vitamin D
